ABOUT ME

“Most of all it was a story about reclaiming myself, transforming from the fragmented girl on the floor into a woman who could say, I am more than this pain.”

- Carmen Maria Machado, In the Dream House, 2019

As a first‑gen Mexican‑American/Chicana, I understand the importance of honoring cultura with deep respeto. I affirm the unique ethnic, cultural, and gender or non-binary identities of my clients. I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and communities including but not limited to First-generation Latine/Latinx, BIPOC professionals or students, eldest daughter or eldest child, and women in middle age and beyond.

I’m committed to continually strengthening my own cultural humility through continued education and training because your stories, histories, and identities deserve that level of care.

My approach is less focused on labels related to diagnosis and treatment and more about providing guidance, support, and tools that will bring lasting change. I blend evidence‑based trauma‑informed care such as EMDR, CBT, DBT with a more non‑traditional, somatic informed, and culturally grounded approach.

I am happy to provide a diagnosis and discuss this with you as most insurances require this. Labels can often create fear of pathologizing a normal response to lived systemic issues.

For many, the felt sense of safety in therapy is not a given — it’s a privilege shaped by access, systems, and lived experience. I don’t enter the session to “manage care”. I enter as a witness to your worries, fears, and emotional pain, offering a space where you don’t have to perform strength or hide vulnerability.

I show up as a real, imperfect First‑Gen Mexicana/Chicana therapist — with my own tenderness, my enojona empowered energy, and a little light‑hearted humor. This is a space where all parts of you are welcomed.

“I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.”

- Maya Angelou
